Event Description

Objectives:

  • To improve learner experiences by improving the skills of clinical teachers
  • Enhanced competency and confidence in the teaching skills as health professions educators
  • Increase the community of experienced educators at Duke Health
  • Stimulate inter professional peer teaching and sharing of best practices in pedagogy

Event details:

  • Date: Monday, June 4, 2018
  • 8 AM to 1:00 PM
  • Learning Hall TSCHE
  • Participants limited to 50 faculty
  • Participants must be referred by leadership and reviewed by our planning committee prior to acceptance.
  • Participants will be chosen by the planning committee based on review of letters of recommendation.
  • There is no fee and participants will be expected to participate in the entire program

Outcome measures:

  • Pre- and post-validated confidence as educator survey
  • Teaching triangle feedback
  • Identify goal as educator prior to program and reflect 6 monthslater on achievement of goal

This program is geared toward junior and mid-career faculty who wish to gain skills as teachers in busy clinical settings.

Graduates of this pilot will be asked to serve as mentors for students, residents and fellows who wish to improve their teaching skills .
